In the beginning, our platform estate planning document set did not include documents relating to health care. The logic was that health care directives have nothing to do with estate planning, as such.
Experience proved otherwise. Incapacity is the rehearsal for estate transition, and the family member empowered to make medical decisions is almost always the one administering the trust shortly thereafter. The two instruments must speak to one another.
